The Regulator

What any high-priced gunfighter might have worn in the late 1880's. A blend of the fully lined, traditional Mexican Loop holster and classic money belt outfit, but with the sparkle of handmade sterling silver buckle and embellishments and six extra bullet loops on the holster made famous by gunman John Wesley Hardin

Every aspect of this 19th century style gun rig is based on historical fact. By the 1880s, "gunfighting," whether done by bonafide lawmen, feuding families like those in the famous Taylor-Sutton war, hired mercenaries, professional gamblers or outlaws like Billy the Kid, was developing into an art. The need to instantly have a pistol in action was a reality and holster design began to reflect this.

The Regulator's 'Texas Lowcut" scabbard was popular beginning with the eighties, and some were even equipped with a safety hammer loop. Lining holsters became the style, either with pigskin, suede or calf to prevent snagging. These outfits were worn every day and evening, so comfort was important, too.

The prominent gunmen of the era were well aware of their fame and dressed accordingly. Their clothing, boots, shoes, hats, saddles and accessories were often tailor made and expensive. So were their gun rigs. The Regulator combines historically correct silver buckles and conchos, carving designs and belt and holster patterns to produce the ultimate 19th century gun rig that the likes of Luke Short, John Ringo, Wes Hardin or Doc Holliday could have worn.
